Danianne Mizzy

Dean, Library Services at Montclair State University

Danianne Mizzy is the current Dean of Library Services at Montclair State University. Danianne has held this position since July 2021. Prior to that, they were the Special Projects Coordinator at Cornell University from August 2018 to July 2021.

Mizzy began their career in library services in 2001 as a Reference Librarian at Carnegie Mellon University. Danianne then became the Public Services Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. In 2003, they accepted a position as the Assistant Head of the Engineering Library at the University of Pennsylvania, where they worked until 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they were the Library Director at the Academy of Natural Sciences. In 2010, they became the Engineering Librarian at Columbia University and held that position for two years. In 2013, they became the Head of Kenan Science Information Services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a position they held until 2018.

Mizzy has also worked as a freelance theatrical lighting designer from 1982 to 1991 and as the CEO of their own company, Mizzy, Inc., from 1984 to 1987.

Danianne Mizzy has a MLS from the University of Pittsburgh, an MFA in Lighting Design from Yale School of Drama, and an A.B. in International Relations from Brown University. Danianne also has an International Baccalaureate from United National International School.
