Laura Valentine Chrobak

Laura Valentine Chrobak is an experienced MLOps Research Engineer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) since May 2024, previously serving as a Senior Research Engineer at X, the moonshot factory, from June 2019 to December 2023. At X, Laura contributed to developing innovative ocean technologies through the Tidal project, focusing on machine learning and computer vision to enhance understanding and protection of fjord ecosystems. Laura's background includes a Master's degree in Robotics from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Ocean Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Earlier internships and research positions included work at prestigious institutions such as General Motors and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, among others. Laura's career is distinguished by a commitment to utilizing technology for addressing critical environmental challenges.
