Ruslan Kabalin

Ruslan Kabalin has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ruslan began their career in 1999 as an IS Technician at Belgorod Industrial College, where they were responsible for network maintenance and administration. In 2000, they transitioned to the role of Systems and Network Administrator at Belgorod State University, managing a large university network and various servers and services.

In 2006, Ruslan joined the University of Nottingham as the CeDEx Lab Manager, where they provided technical maintenance and support for the computer lab and developed applications for economics experiments. Ruslan also administered the online recruitment system and collaborated with school staff and students on lab and service development.

In 2009, Ruslan became a Systems Developer at LUNS Ltd., focusing on PHP and Perl development, Debian GNU/Linux system administration, and large-scale Moodle/Mahara hosting platform administration. Ruslan also worked on configuration management, monitoring, and automation.

During this time, they also contributed to the Mahara Community as a Core Contributor from 2009 to 2015.

In 2012, Ruslan joined Lancaster University as a Developer, contributing to Moodle and Mahara development and working on VLE infrastructure design and management. Ruslan held this role until 2017 when they were promoted to Senior Developer, a position they held until 2018.

Since 2018, Ruslan has been a Senior Developer at Moodle, specifically focused on Moodle Workplace. Ruslan continues to make contributions to the Moodle community as a Core Contributor.

Throughout their career, Ruslan has demonstrated expertise in software development, system administration, network management, and project coordination.

Ruslan Kabalin's education history includes earning a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they attended Belgorod State University from 2000 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. During their time at Belgorod State University, Ruslan studied Computer Science, Pedagogic, and English. In addition to their academic degrees, Ruslan obtained a certification in ITIL V3 Foundation Level from Purple Griffon in October 2009.
