Guangwu Cen

Guangwu (Ken) Cen has over 18 years of experience in software development and architecture. Guangwu (Ken) has worked for multiple companies, starting from their role as a Junior Software Engineer at Tuopu Technology Ltd. in 2002. Ken then joined Shenzhen Lijian Technology Ltd. in 2003 as a Software Engineer and Assistant Technical Manager, where they led a team in developing new websites and maintaining legacy projects.

In 2005, Ken joined Morningstar as a Software Developer and later transitioned into roles with increasing responsibilities and leadership. Guangwu (Ken) served as a System Developer, responsible for maintaining a legacy data system and developing new functions on Web Services. Ken also designed and built a new data production system to integrate data from multiple sources and formats to serve multiple products.

As a Technical Architect at Morningstar, Ken led a backend team in covering all backend systems, including databases, data production, and web services. Guangwu (Ken) designed and administered a database system deployed across multiple locations with disaster recovery support.

In their most recent role as a Lead Software Architect at Morningstar, Ken led the backend squad to cover backend systems, data processes, transformation, and integration. Guangwu (Ken) focused on system performance improvement and troubleshooting, as well as integrating GECS, MQR, and ESG data into products to drive business success.

Throughout their career, Ken has demonstrated expertise in software architecture, backend systems, data production, and performance optimization, utilizing both on-premise and cloud-first technologies.

Guangwu (Ken) Cen completed their Bachelor's degree in Management Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology in the years 1998-2002. Additionally, they obtained several certifications including the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from Scrum Alliance in January 2016, the MCSE: Data Management and Analytics certification from Microsoft in 2016, the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 certification from Microsoft in 2014, and the Claritas Investment Certificate from CFA Institute in 2014. Cen also completed a course on Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging from LinkedIn in an unspecified year.
