Derek Blair

Associate Director Clinical Biomarkers at MorphoSys

Derek Blair has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and research industries. Derek currently holds the position of Associate Director Clinical Biomarkers at MorphoSys, starting in September 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Celgene as a Principal Scientist from August 2017 to February 2020. Derek also had a tenure at Takeda, where they held the positions of Associate Scientific Director, Global Translational Medicine in 2017 and Senior Scientist from 2014 to 2017. Before that, they worked at Millennium Pharmaceuticals as a Scientist II from 2012 to 2014 and Scientist I from 2009 to 2012. Derek started their career as a Research Fellow at Boston College, where they conducted post-doctoral research in B cell Immunology from 2005 to 2009. Derek pursued their PhD at the University of Glasgow from 2000 to 2004 and gained industry experience through an internship at AstraZeneca from 1997 to 1998.

Derek Blair received their Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Molecular Biology with a work placement from the University of Glasgow. Derek proceeded to complete a Master of Research program at the same university, specializing in Molecular Functions in Disease. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Immunology, also at the University of Glasgow.
