We are looking for a motivated Curriculum Developer to join our Engage team!

DEPARTMENT:

Employment, Language, and Social Enterprise

POSITION FUNCTION:

  • Development of online English language instructional materials specific to the online course Engage for Change: Foundations of Social, Community and Civic Participation.

  • Develop four modules with one hour of online, asynchronous content per module. Four hours of total content at CLB4.

    • Module 1: Social and Civic Engagement – to provide general understanding of the concepts, theoretical knowledge and practical examples of social and civic engagement in the Canadian context.
    • Module 2: Volunteering in the Community – to provide general understanding of volunteering in the Canadian context and examples of ways / opportunities for volunteering.
    • Module 3: Participating in the Electoral Processes – to provide general understanding of procedures and opportunities to participate and volunteer in the electoral processes in Canada.
    • Module 4: Advocacy – to provide general understanding of advocacy and examples of advocacy in the Canadian context.
  • Work with the team to ensure that learning activity content is targeted to client needs. This includes reviewing existing resources, incorporating results of client needs assessment, collaborating with subject matter experts, and editing content after clients have tested it.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recognized undergraduate degree and a TESL Canada recognized TESL certificate or a clearly documented equivalent

  • At least two years of experience teaching ESL to adults

  • Experience developing engaging, learner-centred online language learning activities in Moodle.

  • Knowledge of online teaching and learning and Moodle course design

  • Working knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks, and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)

  • Competent degree of computer literacy using e-mail, word processing programs, and learner management systems.

HOURS:

5 hours per week. This is a fixed term contract from June 3 to October 11 2024

The successful candidate may be permitted to work a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote work).

BENEFITS:

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
