Byungsoo Kim

Byungsoo Kim has a diverse and extensive work experience in various areas of technology. Byungsoo is currently the Founder & Chairman of Motion2AI, a role they have held since March 2023. Prior to that, they served as the CEO of Motion2AI from March 2018 to March 2023.

Before joining Motion2AI, Byungsoo worked as a Software Engineer at Zippy, a company that focused on building last-mile delivery vehicles. Byungsoo was involved in multiple areas such as computer vision, inverse kinematics, visual inertial odometry, and simulation. Zippy was later acquired by GM Cruise.

Byungsoo also worked as a Sr. Computer Vision Scientist at DAQRI, where they contributed significantly to the company's augmented reality glasses and helmet. Their work primarily focused on visual inertial odometry, mapping & relocalization, and 2D/3D instance 6-DoF estimation. Byungsoo was with DAQRI from April 2014 to April 2017.

Furthermore, Byungsoo gained research experience as a Research Intern at Microsoft, where they worked on developing an augmented reality application for the MS Surface Laptop. Byungsoo utilized random-forest-based real-time semantic scene understanding to create a room style changer application. This internship took place from January 2014 to April 2014.

Byungsoo started their career as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan from September 2008 to April 2014.

Byungsoo Kim completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology between 2001 and 2008. Byungsoo then pursued higher education at the University of Michigan, where they obtained their Master's and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science: Systems. Byungsoo studied at the University of Michigan from 2008 to 2013.
