Dikpal Reddy

Senior Principal Engineer Lead at Motional

Dikpal Reddy has a significant work experience in the field of software engineering and computer vision. They have held various roles in different companies, starting with an internship at Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs in 2010. Following that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, College Park, from 2006 to 2011. At UC Berkeley, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2011 to 2013, focusing on projector-camera methods and light-field imaging in computer vision.

In 2013, Reddy joined NVIDIA as a Research Scientist before moving on to work at Light as a Research Scientist and Technical Lead in camera calibration. At Light, Reddy developed algorithms for geometric and sensor calibration and contributed to the design of a novel calibration system for production. They also worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Light, where they developed algorithms for color calibration, depth-of-field rendering, and file format compression.

Reddy went on to work at Argo AI as a Technical Lead Manager and Senior Software Engineering Manager, specializing in calibration, localization, and sensor integrity. They built and managed teams responsible for solving computer vision problems related to perception and managed technical leaders and engineers in these areas.

In 2022, Reddy joined Meta as a Software Engineering Manager, partnering with product managers to define strategies and roadmaps for releasing Movement SDK for VR applications. Later, they became a Tech Lead Manager and led the development of core runtime capabilities and the hiring of specialists to build the runtime platform, APIs, and SDK.

Currently, Reddy is working at Motional as a Senior Principal Engineer Lead, where their responsibilities and achievements are yet to be determined.

Dikpal Reddy completed a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 2005. Dikpal then pursued a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland from 2005 to 2011. Following that, they conducted Postdoctoral Research at the University of California, Berkeley from 2011 to 2013.
