Caroline Spurry

Architectural Historian at Mount Vernon

Caroline Spurry is an experienced architectural historian with a focus on historic preservation, currently serving at George Washington's Mount Vernon since May 2014. In this role, Caroline conducts research on historic buildings, develops preservation reports, and performs extensive field documentation, including CAD drawings and photography. Previous positions at Mount Vernon include Preservation Specialist and Preservation Technician, where Caroline managed maintenance programs and conducted assessments of historic structures. Additionally, Caroline has experience as a tennis coach at FirstServe Tennis Academy and has held human resources management roles at Boeing and PwC. Caroline holds a Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation and Conservation from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Franklin & Marshall College.

Mount Vernon

George Washington’s Mount Vernon is the historic home of George and Martha Washington, located 13 miles south of Washington, DC. Guests can see the historic mansion, stately rooms, and outbuildings preserved to the year 1799, the last year of George Washington’s life. Owned and operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, George Washington’s Mount Vernon has been visited by world leaders since its opening to the public in the 1860s . In addition to the mansion, one can visit our beautiful gardens, a working farm engaged in 18th century agriculture, two museums, heritage breed animals, and the most majestic view across the Potomac River. We also welcome guests to dine at our Mount Vernon Inn or grab a meal at our Food Court Pavilion.
