Jermaine Gassaway

Jermaine Gassaway serves as the Superintendent at Movement School since June 2023. Previously, Gassaway was the Director of Schools at Rocketship Public Schools from June 2016 to April 2023, where responsibilities included managing and coaching school leaders and ensuring high-quality student achievement through the execution of core organizational pillars. Gassaway developed strategic visions and structures to support effective school leadership, maintained strong partnerships within the community, and navigated challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Significant achievements during this tenure included leading Rocketship United Academy to receive Reward status for outstanding student performance and managing the opening of two new schools. Earlier experiences include roles as a school principal, founding assistant principal, curriculum specialist with Teach For America, and teacher with KIPP Charlotte. Gassaway holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Johnson C. Smith University and is pursuing a Master of Education in Education Policy and Leadership from American University.
