Oscar Murillo

VP, Pocket Product & Design at Mozilla

Oscar is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in designing products, services, and platforms that have a positive impact on society. Born in New York City and raised in Bogota, Colombia, he has been living in the Pacific Northwest for 25 years.

Prior to joining Mozilla, Oscar served as the VP of Design at The Athletic, which is part of the New York Times family. He led a team of talented designers who worked on creating the world's best sports journalism and entertainment experience. Before that, he was a Product Design Manager at Facebook Reality Lab, where he contributed to the development of a new AR product. Oscar spent 15 years at Microsoft, where he worked on some exciting projects such as HoloLens, XBOX, Kinect, wearables, connected vehicles, and smart home technology. During his tenure at Microsoft, he was also part of the "Inclusive Design" and "Ethics & Society" teams.

Oscar has been awarded over 20 patents.

Earlier in his career, Oscar worked as a Creative Director at AT&T, InfoSpace Mobile, and Clique, where he designed digital experiences for companies like T-Mobile, Orange, Sprint, Cingular, Forbes, Renault, People, Cosmo Magazine, Wallpaper, and the Wall Street Journal.

Oscar is an active member of several design organizations and has served as the Design Director for the Computer Human Interaction conference (CHI). He is also an affiliate lecturer at the University of Washington's School of Art, Art History, and Design, and has taught at NYU ITP and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
