Kyle Thiermann is the Head of Editorial at MUD\WTR. Kyle previously worked as a Correspondent for Discovery Digital Networks and as the creator of Surfing For Change. Kyle is also an Ambassador for Patagonia.

Kyle Thiermann started their career as a surfer and environmental activist. At 18, they created and hosted Surfing For Change, an online travel series covering ocean issues including plastic pollution and coral reef bleaching. Kyle's first YouTube video in the series called out Bank of America for underwriting a proposed coal plant at a pristine surf break in Chile. The video inspired people to move millions of dollars out of B of A and was picked up by Outside Magazine, Surfer Magazine, and Huffington Post. The series earned him the Brower Youth Award, American Clean Skies Award, Blue Vision Youth Award, Surfrider’s Pro Surfer Environmental Achievement Award, and in 2011 allowed him to give at TEDx Talk about the banking system in their wetsuit.

In 2015, Kyle began working as a Correspondent for Discovery Digital Networks. Kyle covered a variety of topics, but they were most passionate about environmental issues. In 2018, they left Discovery to join MUD\WTR as Head of Editorial.

In addition to their work at MUD\WTR, Kyle is also an Ambassador for Patagonia. Kyle continues to use their platform to raise awareness about environmental issues and to inspire others to take action.

-Kyle Thiermann earned a Bachelor of Science in Green Business with a focus in Media from Gaia University.

Their manager is Shane Heath, Founder & CEO. They are on a team with Adrian U. - Head of Engineering, Emma Nelson - Chief Commercial Officer, and Dersu Rhodes - VP, Brand.
