The Business Product Owner (BPO) for Debt Collections will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering the product strategy and roadmap for the company’s debt collection offerings. This position requires a deep understanding of debt collection processes, regulatory requirements, and customer needs. The BPO will work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, compliance, and sales to ensure that products are developed and launched effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

  • Develop and own the product vision and strategy for the debt collections segment.
  • Create and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with business goals, customer needs, and market trends.
  • Prioritize product features and enhancements based on business value, customer impact, and feasibility.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, including operations, compliance, and IT teams, to ensure alignment on product objectives and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies and support sales efforts with product expertise.

Product Development:

  • Define product requirements and user stories, ensuring they are clear, concise, and aligned with the overall product strategy.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure timely delivery of product features and improvements.
  • Lead the sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions, ensuring that the development team understands the priorities and deliverables.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all product features and processes comply with relevant debt collection regulations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the compliance team to identify potential risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Customer Experience:

  • Conduct market research and gather customer feedback to inform product decisions and enhancements.
  • Monitor and analyze product performance metrics, customer satisfaction, and competitive landscape to identify areas for improvement.

Project Management:

  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring on-time delivery and within budget.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to manage product releases, ensuring that all aspects of the product are ready for market.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Track and report on product performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), return on investment (ROI), and customer satisfaction metrics.

  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjustments to the product strategy.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product management, with a focus on debt collections or financial services.

  • Proven experience in developing and launching successful products in the debt collection industry.

  • Strong understanding of debt collection processes, regulations, and industry trends.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) and product management software (e.g., Aha!, Productboard).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing cross-functional teams.
