Riikka Alvik is a doctoral candidate and lecturer in maritime archaeology at the University of Helsinki, where work has been ongoing since 2004. In addition to academic pursuits, Riikka serves as an intendant and maritime archaeologist at the Finnish Heritage Agency, focusing on the research and protection of underwater cultural heritage since January 2014. Furthermore, since July 2009, Riikka has been a researcher for the National Board of Antiquities, specializing in maritime archaeology and history. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts from the University of Helsinki and a professional research diver degree in underwater archaeology from Luksia.
