Senior Art Preparator at MUSEUM ASSOCIATES

Kathryn Pinto has a diverse work experience in the art industry. Kathryn began their career in 2006 as the President of Five 15 Arts, where they served until 2010. Kathryn then worked as a Graphic Designer at Tile Signs & Graphics from 2007 to 2008.

In 2009, Kathryn joined the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, initially as a Visitor Services staff member and later as an Exhibition Technician. In this role, Kathryn collaborated with the Exhibitions team to install exhibitions and handled art objects with care. Their responsibilities included unpacking, hanging, re-crating artworks, and ensuring the safety of the collection. Kathryn continued their work at the museum until 2017.

From 2013 to 2015, Kathryn worked as a Preparator at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Here, they installed art objects from the Academy's collection within the galleries. Kathryn was also responsible for installing exhibition labels and graphics, as well as assisting with lighting.

In 2016, Kathryn joined The Broad as a Preparator. Kathryn worked closely with the Exhibitions team to install art pieces from The Broad collection. Their role involved following standard museum practices to handle art objects safely and carefully. Additionally, they received shipments from off-site storage and packed collection objects for storage and transport.

Kathryn also gained experience as a Preparator at the Autry Museum of the American West from 2017 onwards. In this role, they contributed to the installation of various artworks.

In 2019, Kathryn began working at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a Senior Art Preparator. Their responsibilities in this role are not specified, but they continue to contribute to LACMA's art preparation team.

Additionally, Kathryn has engaged in freelance work as a Scenic Painter since 2012. This work experience demonstrates their versatility in the art industry.

In addition to their art-related experience, Kathryn served as the Managing Editor for Radio Free Silver Lake from 2010 until December 2019.

Kathryn Pinto received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Reed College, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Kathryn later pursued their Master of Fine Arts degree in Art at Arizona State University, completing their studies from 2001 to 2005.
