Sayida Rivers Farmer's work experience begins in 1996 as a Program Assistant at Pioneer Valley Girl Scouts, where they coordinated activities for girls in grades 1-5. Sayida then worked as a Parental Empowerment Coordinator at Urban League of Springfield, where they established relationships with community agencies and assisted in transitions from school to work. In 1997, they became a Childcare Worker at Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps, implementing behavior management systems and assisting with educational programs. From 1999-2000, they worked as a Caseworker at Families in Crisis, Inc., providing counseling services and crisis intervention. Sayida then became a Family Therapist at COMPASS, Inc., providing counseling services and working with the Department of Social Services. From 2000-2002, they worked as an MSW Level Social Worker at a Foster Care Agency. From 2002-2008, they worked as a Social Worker at Casey Family Services, providing ongoing assessments and casework services. From 2008-2009, they were a Community Project Coordinator/Drug Free Community Support Program at Northeast Center for Healthy Communities, coordinating with schools and surrounding communities to implement prevention programs. Since 2015, they have been a Health Home Care Manager at Mystic Valley Elder Services.
Sayida Rivers Farmer has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Westfield State College, which they obtained from 1991 to 1995. Sayida'sfield of study was Liberal Studies with a focus on Psychology and English. Sayida then pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Sayida completed their MSW from 1998 to 2000, focusing on Social Work, Group Work, and Community Organization. Additionally, they also hold a Master of Social Work degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Connecticut, which they completed in 2000.
