Alexander Karev

Alexander Karev has worked in the software engineering industry since 2009. Alexander began their career as a Software Engineer at E-generator.ru (joint stock company), where they developed a health-related social network system and optimized system performance. In 2011, they moved to Mediateka as a Senior Software Engineer, where they led a team of 5 engineers, ported a social network service from PHP to Python with a speedup of 2-5x, and created an infrastructure for the engineers team. In 2012, they became a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead at Emerging Travel Group, where they led a team of 3-4 engineers, architected and developed a hotel booking system with high availability optimization, and architected and developed a PCI DSS compliant payment system with a dynamic pricing engine. In 2019, they joined Ace Metrix | an iSpot company as a Senior Software Engineer, where they architected and developed a high-performance gRPC project with a 10-1000x speedup (golang), ported projects from Java to Go/Python, and created an infrastructure for the engineers team. In 2021, they moved to Udemy as a Senior Software Engineer. Finally, in 2022, they joined Nacelle as a Senior Software Engineer.

Alexander Karev attended Moscow State Open University from 2003 to 2009, where they earned a Specialist (Master's) degree in Control and informatics in technical systems.
