Dr. Shamim Karim MCIM CMktr has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries.

Dr. Shamim started their career as a Key Account Manager at Pfizer in 2002, where they were responsible for managing key accounts and developing marketing strategies.

After that, they worked as a Journalist for BBC Radio 4 Today, BBC Health & Science, and The Guardian, where they gained experience in reporting and research in the healthcare field.

In 2008, Dr. Karim joined Galliard Healthcare Communications as an Account Manager, where they managed client accounts and executed marketing and communications strategies.

Dr. Shamim then transitioned to a role at Shire Plc as a Product Manager, where they developed and executed integrated marketing and communications strategies for various brands.

In 2013, Dr. Karim became the Head of Marketing and Communications at Tillotts Pharma UK, where they led the marketing and corporate communications functions of the GI specialty company.

In 2018, they worked as a Marketing and Communications Consultant at the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE), providing expertise and guidance in marketing and communications strategies.

From 2016 to 2022, Dr. Karim served as a Senior Marketing Communications Consultant at Virtual Experts Marketing Management. In this role, they provided counsel and expertise to develop communications and marketing programs for clients in various industries.

Currently, Dr. Karim holds the position of Head of Communications and Media Relations at Nakheel, where they oversee the development and implementation of communication and media strategies.

Dr. Shamim Karim MCIM CMktr's education history includes a BSc degree in Cell Biology (2(i) Hons) from UCL, obtained from 1993 to 1996. Later, from 1997 to 2001, they pursued a PhD in Molecular Biology with a focus on HIV vaccines, specifically conducting in vitro studies of SIV Nef function, at The Open University. In 2006 to 2007, they acquired a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from City, University of London. Additionally, Dr. Karim holds a Professional Certificate - Executive Summer School in Achieving Leadership Excellence from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a Certificate in Economic Evaluation in Healthcare from Brunel University London. They have also obtained multiple certifications, including CIM Chartered Marketer from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing in June 2021, and the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry certification from The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in June 2003. Moreover, they are a member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
