Rahil is the Chairman & CEO of Rushmore Energy, a Houston based energy company with presence in seven states across the United States. Prior to founding Rushmore Energy, Rahil helped launch and grow a start-up into one of the largest independent energy providers in the State of Texas before it was acquired by a publicly traded company in 2011.
Previously, Rahil led deal structuring for a large private equity fund for its successful bid on a $1 Billion portfolio of electricity generation assets. He has also held senior positions at UBS Warburg and at Enron in Houston, London, and New York. At UBS, Rahil was responsible for establishing the bank’s energy derivative trading business with hedge funds across the US and Europe. During his tenure at Enron, Rahil was involved with several strategic initiatives, helping establish the company’s derivatives trading business for Continental Europe, and co-founding EnronOnline, the company’s proprietary trading platform that later became the largest web-based trading platform in the world with $940 billion in commodity transactions conducted over two years.
Rahil attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization. He has conducted research on technology commercialization, public-private partnership models, and smart city projects at the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Technology Incubator. Rahil has also completed coursework in Corporate Finance at the London Business School and in Strategic Negotiations at the Harvard Kennedy School. He has lectured at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and has been interviewed by various business and academic publications, including a case study at the Harvard Business School.
Rahil is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and has served on the Boards of the YPO Deal Network, YPO Global Diplomacy Network, the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board for the United States. He currently serves on the Board of the American Ismaili Chamber of Commerce (AICC).
