Dwayne Dunaway

Chief Research Engineer at NanoString

Dwayne Dunaway currently serves as Chief Research Engineer at Bruker Spatial Biology, a position held since May 2024, while also holding a long-standing role as Chief Research Engineer at NanoString Technologies, Inc. since April 2004. Dwayne has held various leadership positions at NanoString, including Senior Director of Engineering for Integrated Systems, where significant advancements in spatial profiling technology were achieved, notably with the development of the CosMx system capable of high-throughput RNA and protein measurement. Other notable contributions include the technical leadership of the “Sprint” System, which successfully integrated two instruments into one, reducing costs significantly. Dwayne began the professional journey as a Research Scientist at the Institute for Systems Biology, following academic accomplishments that include a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
