Chuck Leonard began their career at NASA Langley Research Center in 1997, where they served as Associate Director of the Systems Analysis and Concepts Directorate. In this role, they helped lead a team of engineers who were responsible for analyzing new concepts for NASA science, space, and aeronautics projects. Chuck also served on the Langley Technology Council, which was responsible for executing funding for the center's forward-looking activities.
In 2017, Leonard left NASA Langley to become Project Manager for Hypersonic Technology at NASA. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the development of new hypersonic technology. Chuck is also a member of NASA's Systems Engineering Capability Leadership Team, which seeks to create a world-class systems engineering and systems analysis capability for the agency.
Chuck Leonard's educational career began when they received their B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Chuck followed this up with an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University. Finally, they ended their schooling with a degree from Northern High School.
Chuck Leonard reports to James A. Kenyon, Director, Advanced Air Vehicles Program. and Steve Sinacore - Deputy PM, Hypersonic Technology reports to Chuck Leonard. They work with Rick Young - Project Manager, Advanced Composites, Peter Coen - Project Manager, Commercial Supersonic Tech, and Susan Gorton - Project Manager,Revolutionary Vehicle Lift Tech.
