Sandra Cauffman

Deputy Director, Astrophysics Division at NASA

Sandra Cauffman has extensive experience at NASA, serving as Deputy Director for both the Astrophysics Division and the Earth Science Division since May 2016. Prior roles at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from February 1991 to May 2016 include positions such as Deputy System Program Director for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R, Project Manager for the Gravity and Extreme Magnetism SMEX (GEMS) project, and Deputy Project Manager for the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) mission. Sandra also held a Senior Technologist position at NASA and has experience as a Senior Engineer/Task Manager at Engineering and Economics Research Systems. Educational achievements include a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Physics from George Mason University, as well as coursework in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica.
