Bret Bandick

Bret Bandick has extensive work experience in the fields of environmental health and safety, security administration, and employee relations. Bret is currently serving as the Environmental Health and Safety Director at the Nashville Zoo, where they manage various programs and ensures the safety of the public, employees, and animals. Prior to this, they worked as a Part-time Faculty member at Palomar College, mentoring and teaching undergraduate students in the field of administration of justice.

Before their role at Palomar College, Bandick worked at Palomar Health, where they served as an Employee and Labor Relations Specialist. During their time there, they implemented strategies to resolve employee relations issues and conducted investigations. Bret also held the position of District Security Manager at Palomar Health, overseeing all physical security activities and implementing various initiatives to enhance security measures.

Bandick also worked as a National Instructor at ALICE Training, where they conducted public safety training sessions on active shooter incident survival skills. In addition, they provided security assessments and consulting services to various organizations and acted as a subject matter expert for news segments.

Earlier in their career, Bandick worked at UC San Diego Health System as a System Security Training Manager. In this role, they designed and delivered security programs and led efforts to reduce Worker's Compensation claims. Bret also delivered a successful workshop on Active Shooter Survival Strategies at the CA Hospital Association Disaster Planning Conference.

Bandick started their career in the field of real estate as a Realtor & Loan Agent at Pata Financial Inc. and later transitioned to law enforcement. Bret spent many years working at the San Diego County Sheriff's office, holding various positions in the Detentions Bureau and the Human Resources Bureau.

Bret Bandick has a Bachelor's degree in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University. Bret also holds a Certificate in Leadership Excellence from Vanderbilt University. In 1991, they attended the 9th Corrections Academy at San Diego County Sheriff. In 1994, they completed the 1st Reserve Firefighter Academy at Escondido Fire Department. Additionally, in 2005, they attended the Search & Rescue Academy at San Diego County Sheriff. Bret Bandick has received additional certifications as well, including being an On-line Instructor from Palomar College, obtained in August 2020, and being an Instructor for Stop the Bleed - Save a Life, obtained in July 2018.
