Josh Uretsky

Senior Director, Analytics at National Audubon Society

Josh Uretsky has a diverse range of work experience in the field of data analysis and campaign management. Josh started their career as a Data Director for Leslie Crocker Snyder for DA in 2009, where they targeted voters and prepared lists for voter contact. Josh then worked as a Programmer for Cybersoft Operating Corporation before becoming a Campaign Management Consultant, where they were responsible for managing and recruiting staff, communication, political outreach, and field work.

In 2010, Uretsky joined Credo Mobile as a Data Analyst, using Microsoft SQL to analyze customer data and report on attrition behavior. Josh also automated and streamlined existing SQL processes to improve efficiency. From 2011 to 2013, they split their time between America Votes and State Voices as a Pennsylvania Data and Targeting Manager. In this role, they provided data-driven analysis, managed voter file access, and performed detailed post-election analysis.

Uretsky then joined America Votes as a full-time Pennsylvania Data and Targeting Manager from 2013 to 2015. During this time, they prepared data-driven analysis of partisan political opportunities and needs, determined key regions for electoral programs, and managed voter file access for partner organizations. Josh also managed the campaign's relationship with the DNC data team and made improvements to data tools customized for the campaign's needs.

In 2015, Uretsky worked as the National Data Director for Bernie 2016, where they provided data-driven insights and strategy to the campaign leadership. Josh managed national VAN access and integration with digital campaign tools and maintained the campaign's relationship with the DNC data team.

Most recently, Uretsky served as the Senior Director of Analytics for the National Audubon Society. In this role, they led the Data Science and Analytics team, applying a data-driven, member-centric approach to understand what drives members to take action. Josh piloted an inter-departmental team focused on creating a more diverse and equitable membership and reducing differences in response by demographic.

Josh Uretsky completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, from 1994 to 1998. Josh then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biophysics at the University of York from 2000 to 2008, reaching the level of ABD (All But Dissertation).
