Lizzy Gilbert has a diverse work experience spanning over 17 years. Lizzy is currently the Director of Development at the National Audubon Society since 2020. Prior to that, they worked at the College of Saint Mary from 2017 to 2020, holding various roles including Assistant Vice President, Alumnae & Donor Relations and Director of Major Gifts. From 2013 to 2017, Lizzy served as the Director of Development at the Omaha Community Playhouse, where they focused on cultivating donors and securing partnerships. Lizzy also worked at the Anti-Defamation League-Plains States from 2011 to 2013, building relationships with donors and managing media relations. Before that, Lizzy was employed by Mutual of Omaha from 2007 to 2011, serving as a Compliance Consultant and Senior Product and Advertising Compliance Analyst. Lizzy'searly career includes an internship at the Southern Africa Global Competitiveness Hub in 2005 and work as a Student Assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan University from 2003 to 2005.

Lizzy Gilbert attended York High School, although the duration is unknown. After graduating from high school, they attended Nebraska Wesleyan University from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. In 2005, Lizzy spent a semester abroad at Stellenbosch University, focusing on South African and African Politics, Philosophy of the Truth & Reconciliation Committee, and other related subjects. Later, from 2008 to 2012, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
