Anirban Basu is a distinguished Scientist VII and J C Bose National Fellow at BRIC-National Brain Research Centre, where work focuses on antiviral drug discovery, molecular medicine, repurposed drugs, the gut-brain axis, and host-directed drug discovery since June 2004. Prior experience includes serving as a postdoctoral fellow in neurobiology at Penn State University from 1999 to 2004 and conducting research as a graduate student at CSIR-IICB, where a PhD in immunology was obtained from January 1994 to February 1999. Anirban Basu holds a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences/Physics/Chemistry and a Master's degree in Life Sciences, both from Viswa Bharati University, with earlier education completed at Ballygunge Government High School in Calcutta.
