Tony Spinosa

Director Health Fitness at National Defense University

Tony Spinosa has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Tony began their career in the US Army, where they held various positions from July 1979 to May 1999. After that, they worked as a Strength Coach for the Washington Redskins from May 1999 to January 2007. During this time, they assisted the Head Strength Coach in designing and implementing strength training programs for professional football players. In 1999, they also started working as a Freshmen Football Coach for West Springfield HS Football, where they developed and monitored strength training and nutrition programs for high school student-athletes until 2012. Finally, in January 2007, they joined the National Defense University as the Director of Health Fitness. In this role, they were responsible for developing policies, plans, and programs related to health and fitness for students, staff, and faculty. Tony also supervised and directed a team of health/fitness professionals and managed personnel and budgeting aspects of the Health Fitness Team.

Tony Spinosa earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania between 1975 and 1979. Tony continued their education at George Mason University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Exercise Physiology from 1997 to 1999.
