Alexa Tapia

Alexa Tapia currently serves as the Unemployment Insurance Campaign Coordinator at the National Employment Law Project, a position held since December 2020. Prior to this role, Tapia was the Special Assistant to the Secretary of Labor at the Kansas Department of Labor from June 2019 to December 2020 and Legislative Director for the Kansas House Democrats from January 2019 to June 2019. Additional experience includes serving as Regional Field Director for the Kansas Democratic Party and as a Reporter for the Cowley Courier Traveler. Previous roles also feature campaign management and research assistance at The University of Kansas, where Tapia co-authored a resource guide for students with intellectual disabilities and assisted with studies on domestic violence. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Global and International Studies and Women's Gender Studies from The University of Kansas, completed in 2016.
