Shelly C. Lowe

Shelly C. Lowe is an accomplished academic and leader in Indigenous studies, currently serving as Chair and National Council Member at the National Endowment for the Humanities since November 2015. Previously, Shelly held the position of Executive Director of the Harvard University Native American Program from August 2009 to October 2021 and served as Assistant Dean & Director of the Native American Cultural Center at Yale University from August 2007 to June 2009. Shelly's foundational career includes a role as Graduate Education Program Facilitator in American Indian Studies at The University of Arizona from July 2001 to June 2007. Shelly C. Lowe holds a Master of Arts in American Indian Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, both from the University of Arizona, with degrees earned in 2005 and 1997, respectively.
