TJ Carroll has a extensive work experience in the aviation industry. TJ started their career as a Flight Instructor at R.A.F. Flight School from July 1993 to July 1995, teaching a range of flight courses. TJ then worked as a Captain at Paper Partners where they managed flight operations and flew various aircraft from July 1995 to November 1996. Next, they joined Bradley Management / Hubler Automotive Group as a First Officer from November 1996 to July 1997. TJ then moved on to Kauffman Engineering, where they served as a Captain on a Westwind Jet 1124 and a First Officer on a Learjet 24 Model from July 1997 to March 1999. Following this, they joined Sonoco as a Captain and Aviation Safety Manager, responsible for flight operations and addressing safety issues from March 1999 to April 2001. TJ then moved to National Gypsum Company, where they held multiple roles, including Senior Captain, Training Manager, and Chief Pilot. In this position, they served as a Senior/International Captain on Gulfstream GVII, coordinated special projects and international operations, and acted as the FAA liaison. TJ joined Spangler Companies, Inc. as Chief Pilot in May 2021. Throughout their career, TJ Carroll has gained a diverse set of skills and experience in various aviation roles.

TJ Carroll attended Indiana State University from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology. Additionally, TJ Carroll has acquired several certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1993, they obtained certifications as a Certified Flight Instructor - Single Engine, Multi-Engine, and Instrument. Following this, they obtained an Airline Transport Pilot certification in 1998, along with an IA-JET certification the same year. TJ Carroll also received a CE-500 certification in 1999, an HS-125 certification in 2000, a DA-2000 certification in 2006, and GV Type Rating certification in 2008. Most recently, in 2020, they obtained a GVII Type Rating certification.
