R. Brent Elrod is an experienced professional in the field of agricultural research, education, and extension, currently serving as the Science Programs Analysis Officer at the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture since July 2021. Elrod provides strategic national leadership to joint Federal-State programs, overseeing partnerships with various educational institutions and organizations. Prior roles include Acting Division Director for Youth and 4-H and Community and Education, as well as National Program Leader positions focused on Community & Rural Development and Family & Consumer Sciences. With a background in managing federal assistance for military and veteran families and implementing competitive grant programs, Elrod has a significant history of leadership in agricultural science and community development since beginning a career in the USDA in 2008. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Theology and Philosophy from Hopkins College and undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky.
