Apostol Vassilev

Apostol Vassilev is a highly experienced professional in the field of information security and cryptographic module testing, currently serving as a Research Team Supervisor and Research Team Lead at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since March 2013. Vassilev also holds the position of Chairman of the CMVP Government/Industry Working Group, focusing on enhancing the efficiency of cryptographic module testing for Federal government consumers. Prior roles include Founder and Lead Engineer at NetIDSys, Inc., Director of Federal Information Security Programs at atsec information security corporation, and Principal Architect at Gemalto. Vassilev's earlier experience encompasses senior engineering roles at Schlumberger, research positions at Texas A&M University, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Vassilev earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Electronics from the Technical University of Sofia.
