Harrison Wein is an accomplished science communications professional with extensive experience in public health messaging and journalism. Currently serving as the Chief of the Science Communications Branch at the National Institutes of Health since 1999, Harrison is the founding and managing editor of "NIH News in Health," a consumer health newsletter. Additionally, Harrison has contributed as a freelance writer for The Washington Post and has held the position of Mass Media Fellow at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1996. Earlier in their career, Harrison gained experience as a summer intern at the US Environmental Protection Agency in 1989. Educationally, Harrison holds a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Biology from Columbia University.
