Dan Staples

Dan Staples has a diverse work experience in the field of IT and cybersecurity. Dan worked as a Director of IT & Cybersecurity at the National Network of Abortion Funds starting in January 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Senior IT & Security Manager at the same organization from January 2017 to January 2020.

In 2018, Dan worked as a Lead Technologist at Open Justice Baltimore, where they held a key role in technology management.

Before joining Open Justice Baltimore, Dan worked as a Senior Security Analyst at Independent Security Evaluators from July 2016 to January 2017, where they conducted security assessments, source code analysis, and penetration tests.

Dan also worked as a Senior Security Engineer at Ponte Technologies from May 2015 to June 2016, where they focused on penetration testing, auditing software and enterprise networks, and conducting information security research.

Dan's earlier experiences include working as a Technologist at the Open Technology Institute, New America Foundation from September 2012 to May 2015, where they contributed to the development of technologies that empower communities and promote open and free communications.

Dan also worked as a Web Developer at FORCE Upsetting Rape Culture and as an Editor, Reporter, and Web Developer at Baltimore Indypendent Reader, where they played a key role in website maintenance, news reporting, and content management.

Dan Staples has a strong educational background in both gender studies and physics. Dan obtained their Master of Science (MS) degree in Women's and Gender Studies from Towson University from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2004 to 2008. In addition to their academic achievements, Dan Staples has also obtained certifications. In October 2022, they received the Hack The Box Pro Lab Offshore certification from Hack The Box. Dan also obtained the Offensive Security Certified Professional certification from Offensive Security in April 2022.
