Michael Scherger

Michael Scherger serves as the Chief Learning Officer for the National Park Service since May 2023, where responsibilities include leading the Learning and Development function to align workforce skills with the agency's mission. Previously, Michael led the Bureau of Land Management's National Training Center from October 2020 to May 2023, focusing on nationwide training and workforce development. Michael's extensive government experience includes roles at the U.S. Department of State where Michael was Division Chief and Director, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as Branch Chief and Senior Policy Analyst, and in various leadership positions at the United States Peace Corps. Michael holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Riverside.
