Kelby Rose has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. They have worked at the National Recreation and Park Association as the Director of Education Operations, where they provided strategic leadership and operations for continuing education and professional development projects. They also worked as a Technical Writer at both Tech2Live and the National Recreation and Park Association, conducting research, synthesizing technical content, and writing for general readership.
In their previous role at Elkhart County Parks, Kelby served as the Deputy Director, responsible for creating user-focused educational content, improving user experience, and implementing new policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. They also led communications and marketing efforts, including a brand overhaul and management of the agency's website and social media platforms.
Before that, Kelby served as the Museum Director at Elkhart County Parks, where they spearheaded audience research initiatives and successfully revitalized the museum's curriculum, visitor experience, and marketing efforts. They also wrote and edited change management policies, technical manuals, and training documentation.
Kelby's earlier experience includes working as an Associate Course Producer at the University of Notre Dame, where they wrote and edited educational content and produced instructional media for online courses. They also conducted original research as a Dissertation Fellow at Texas A&M University, receiving awards for their innovative work in historical naval architecture. Additionally, they served as an Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Texas A&M.
Kelby has also gained experience through internships, including a Museum Studies Internship at Mystic Seaport and a Research Assistant position at The Institute of Nautical Archaeology.
Kelby Rose holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Anthropology from Texas A&M University. Prior to that, they obtained a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Minnesota. In addition to their educational background, Kelby has also acquired additional certifications, including a Certified Interpretive Manager (CIM) from the National Association for Interpretation in July 2019, as well as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional from the National Recreation and Park Association in July 2018.
