Craig Simmons is a seasoned professional in building science and energy efficiency, currently serving as the Senior Research Engineer and Building Science Portfolio Lead Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory since December 2023. As a co-founder of the OpenStudio Coalition since April 2020, Craig has also held various positions at VEIC from July 2014 to December 2023, where project management and technical support for energy efficiency projects were key responsibilities. Previous experience includes senior engineering roles at Vidaris, Inc., and The Green Engineer, LLP, where Craig specialized in energy modeling and performance analysis for diverse building types. Craig began a career in environmental engineering at PG Environmental, LLC, focusing on compliance with the Clean Water Act, and also managed habitat restoration projects at the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative. Craig holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earned in 1999.
