Aleksey Shimko

Aleksey Shimko is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Yandex, focused on developing the YaGPT model since February 2024. Additionally, Aleksey has been an Academic Lecturer at the National Research University — Higher School of Economics since September 2018, teaching elective courses in Classical Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Recommender Systems, and Social Network Analysis, which have received recognition for their innovative content and career relevance. Previously, Aleksey held the position of Lead Data Scientist at X5 Group, managing a team and providing technical leadership from October 2021 to February 2024, and at SIBUR, where systems for Dynamic Pricing and Supply Chain Management were developed from July 2020 to October 2021. Earlier roles include Senior Data Scientist at EPAM Systems, where a Promotions Recommender System was created, and Data Scientist at MegaFon, developing a Churn Prediction model. Aleksey holds a Master's degree in Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science from the Higher School of Economics, alongside a Specialist degree in Economics from the State University of Nizhni Novgorod.
