Garry Gison

NRA Chief Range Safety Officer And Basic Firearms Instructor at National Rifle Association of America

Garry Gison has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Garry started their career in 2000 as a Squad leader and Combat Medic in the US Army Reserves, where they responded to medical emergencies and provided medical support in training and operational environments. Garry also served as a Chaplain Assistant and taught CPR to medical personnel. In 2009, Garry Gison joined the National Rifle Association, where they became a Chief Range Safety Officer and Basic Firearms Instructor. Garry taught gun safety, local and federal rules, and marksmanship to individuals, certifying them in accordance with NRA standards. In 2017, Garry Gison joined the PMO / Marine Corps Police Department as a Security Assistant (Alarm Monitor) and later became a DoD Police Officer. In these roles, they monitored alarms, conducted background checks, enforced base regulations, and ensured safety and security. Garry Gison's work experience reflects a strong commitment to public safety and service.

Garry Gison attended the Marine Corps Police Academy in 2018, where they obtained a certification in the Basic Police Officer Course (BPOC). In addition to their education at the academy, Garry also holds multiple certifications in various fields. These certifications include Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Law Enforcement Basic Chaplain Course, both obtained in December 2020. Garry also has a certification in PERT obtained in January 2019. Furthermore, Garry holds certifications such as Certificate of Contamination Basic Oleoresins Capsicum, NSC Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogens Course, NSC CPR Course, NSC First Aid Course, and Standard Field Sobriety Testing, all obtained in April 2018. Prior to their time at the academy, Garry obtained certifications in Mental Health First Aid (Youth) and Mental Health First Aid (Adults) in December 2017 and September 2017, respectively. Garry has also acquired certifications in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) T4T, Certified Phlebotomy Technician I, SafeTALK - Suicide Alertness/Detection, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), all obtained in 2016. Additionally, they hold certifications in San Diego County Shelter Management, Advanced Group Crisis Intervention, Strategic Response to Crisis, CISM Application with Children, and CISM Managing School Crisis - From Theory to Application, all obtained in 2016.
