Vice President, Smart Grid Solutions at National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative

Milton Geiger has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Milton is currently working at NRTC as the Vice President of Smart Grid Solutions, where they focus on bringing essential technology, such as solar, storage, and EV infrastructure, to rural electric cooperatives. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Smart Grid Energy Solutions at NRTC, where they collaborated with cooperatives to bring distributed energy resources to rural America.

Before joining NRTC, Milton worked as a Lecturer at the University of Wyoming, where they developed curriculum and instructed undergraduate students on the cooperative business model and emerging concepts in co-op finances and governance.

Milton also held various roles at Poudre Valley REA, including Energy Resources Director and Alternative Energy Administrator, where they focused on alternative energy initiatives. Milton's work experience also includes positions at the University of Wyoming Extension/School of Energy Resources as the Energy Extension Coordinator, where they conducted outreach and research on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and conservation.

Additionally, Milton worked as a Ranch Hand at Taylor Ranch and served as a Rural Energy Coordinator/Co-op Development Specialist at USDA Rural Development, providing outreach and assistance for renewable energy, energy efficiency, value-added agriculture, and cooperative development.

Milton'searly career includes an internship as a Fisheries Technician at AmeriCorps and serving as the Assistant State Environmental Coordinator at USDA Rural Development. Overall, Milton Geiger has a strong background in renewable energy, cooperative development, and academia.

Milton Geiger graduated from Colgate University in 2003 with a B.A. in Environmental Economics. Milton then went on to obtain two Master's degrees from the University of Wyoming, one in Agricultural & Applied Economics and the other in Environment & Natural Resources, which they completed between 2007 and 2009.

In addition to their degrees, Milton also holds several certifications. Milton became a LEED Green Associate through the Green Building Certification Institute in November 2013. Milton obtained the certification of Certified RETScreen User from the Association of Energy Engineers in December 2011. In June 2010, they became an Accredited Installer from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. Milton is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and received this certification from the Association of Energy Engineers in December 2014. Lastly, they obtained the certification of Renewable Energy Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers in December 2012.
