Josh Trapani

Josh Trapani serves as the Data and Analytics Officer and Research Data Analyst for the Directorate for Geosciences at the National Science Foundation (NSF) since 2023. Previous roles include Senior Science Policy Editor at Issues in Science Technology from 2021 to 2023 and Senior Analyst for the Science & Engineering Indicators Program at NSF from 2018 to 2021. Earlier experience encompasses leadership as Associate Vice President for Research and Policy Analysis at the Association of American Universities, and as Staff Director for the Science for Policy Project at the Bipartisan Policy Center. Trapani has also held positions as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the USDA Forest Service and a Legislative Fellow in the United States Senate. Academic credentials include a PhD in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Geological Sciences/Anthropology from Binghamton University. Additionally, Trapani has written literary and speculative fiction, with work featured in various publications.
