Andrea Gluyas serves as the Head of Risk Modelling at the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake since February 2019, leading teams in loss modelling, actuarial work, and analytics to enhance risk financing and resilience efforts. Previously, Andrea acted as an in-house actuary for the Earthquake Commission, providing expertise in various risk-related projects. Andrea held multiple leadership roles within the New Zealand Society of Actuaries from Vice President to Immediate Past President between December 2014 and November 2020. Prior consulting experience includes nearly 19 years at PwC, culminating in a directorial position, alongside a brief acting role as Head of Actuarial Services at the Accident Compensation Corporation. Early career roles include actuarial analyst positions at Mercer and National Mutual Life Association. Educational qualifications include being a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a BA(Hons) in Statistics and Operations Research from Victoria University of Wellington, as well as recognition as Dux at New Plymouth Girls' High School in 1984.
