Chelsea Leven has a diverse background in environmental education, conservation, and expedition leadership. Chelsea has worked in roles such as Education Manager and Science Lead at NatureBridge, Owner of 11 Eco-Geo LLC, and Naturalist and Nat. Geo. Certified Field Educator at Lindblad Expeditions. Chelsea has also held positions with the United States Antarctic Program, University of Montana, Wild Rockies Field Institute, Un-Cruise Adventures, National Park Service, Windy Creek Kennels, and Aga Khan Foundation Afghanistan. Chelsea has extensive experience in overseeing field science curriculum, promoting sustainable tourism, and conducting environmental research and outreach.

Chelsea Leven attended West Geauga High School for their secondary education. Chelsea graduated from Amherst College in 2005 with a concentration in Biology within the field of Geology. In 2004, they participated in a Study Abroad program at Victoria University of Wellington focusing on Marine Ecology. Chelsea completed their Master of Science in Resource Conservation with a specialization in International Conservation and Development at the University of Montana in 2019. Additionally, they obtained several certifications in areas such as wilderness first responder, powerboating, and outdoor emergency care technician.
