Senior Nutrition Scientist at Nature's Way

Celeste Alexander, PhD has a diverse range of work experience in nutrition and research roles. Celeste currently serves as a Senior Nutrition Scientist at Nature's Way where they conduct scientific literature mining on vitamins, minerals, and other dietary supplements. Celeste also analyzes research to support product and label claims in accordance with FTC and FDA guidelines. Celeste collaborates with cross-functional teams including Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Legal, and Marketing.

Prior to their current position, Celeste worked as a Postdoctoral Translational Scholar and later as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Gut Microbiome laboratory at the University of Michigan. Celeste conducted research in Microbiology and Immunology under the guidance of Dr. Eric Martens.

Before their time at the University of Michigan, Celeste gained industry experience as a Graduate Student Researcher/Intern at Abbott. In this role, they reviewed and summarized literature on topics related to Abbott Nutrition, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations for the R&D and Health Economics & Outcomes Research teams. Celeste also analyzed dietary intake records from a clinical trial.

Celeste's academic experience includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Comparative Nutrition and Nutrigenomics Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the supervision of Dr. Kelly S. Swanson. Additionally, they served as a Summer Staff member at A.S.K. Services and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and Supplemental Instruction Leader at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Celeste Alexander, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan-Dearborn from 2011 to 2015. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2015 to 2020. In addition to their educational background, Celeste also acquired a certification as a Trained Mentor from Mentor Collective in September 2022.
