Jim Buchanan has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jim started their career in the United States Air Force as an Air Force Special Operations/Rescue Helicopter Pilot, where they assisted in developing step motor controls for missile verification systems and flew missions for search and rescue. After leaving the military, Jim worked for the Dallas Independent School District as a Planning and Project Support/Emergency Management Coordinator, addressing internal management issues and contributing to a large-scale school system. Jim then transitioned to Utility Systems Solutions, Inc, where they started as the General Manager and eventually grew the company from two employees to 20, with annual sales increasing from $500k to $11M. Jim's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Soggy Zoggy Aquatics, a profitable business that they built from the ground up by developing a website, implementing back office software, hiring and training staff, and developing efficient workflows. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Project Manager - Strategy and Marketing at Neighborly, where they utilize their managerial and strategic skills.

Jim Buchanan attended the USAF Academy from 1984 to 1988, where they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering. After completing their undergraduate studies, there is no available information regarding Jim's education history until 1996. In that year, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Business Administration and Management from Troy State University.
