Marcelo Carmo has a diverse work experience starting in 2008 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sao Paulo Institute of Technology. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University. Marcelo then joined Forschungszentrum Jülich in 2011, where they held various roles including Research Scientist, MEA R&D, and eventually became the Head of Department until 2021. In 2019, they briefly served as the Acting Director at the Institute for Energy and Climate Research - IEK14. In 2020, Carmo joined Queen's University as an Adjunct Professor, a position they held until 2023. Most recently, they have been appointed as the Director Of Technology at Nel Hydrogen from October 2021.
Marcelo Carmo's education history begins in 1997 when they enrolled at USP - Universidade de São Paulo to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Marcelo completed their undergraduate studies in 2001. Following that, from 2001 to 2003, Marcelo continued their studies at USP and earned a Master's degree in Physical Chemistry. Marcelo furthered their education by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Science from USP, which they completed in 2008.
