Ashley McLellan

Director, Edwin Account Management (atlantic Canada) & Professional Learning at Nelson Education

Ashley McLellan has a diverse work experience in the field of education and professional learning. Ashley began by working as a Professional Learning Consultant at Nelson Education from August 2018 to March 2019. In this role, they provided effective professional learning opportunities for educators across Canada and advised senior district personnel on incorporating Nelson Professional Learning products and services.

Following this, they served as the President of the Board of Directors at Ontario ASCD from September 2017. In this role, they connected educational leaders to ASCD content and international education issues, and collaborated with partners to provide innovative professional learning opportunities.

Additionally, Ashley worked as a Professional Learning Consultant at CIS Ontario: The Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario from September 2018 to June 2020. Ashley also served as an Impact Coach at The Mabin School from August 2018 to April 2020, where they led explorations of Visible Learning research and supported the school community in their role as a Relationship-Based School.

Before these positions, Ashley had experience as an Elementary Classroom Teacher at Seisen International School from September 2009 to June 2015. In this role, they collaboratively planned integrated units of inquiry, embedded Visible Learning research and assessment tools, and took initiative to plan responsive programming for teaching and learning needs.

Lastly, Ashley was the President of the Board of Directors at Japan ASCD from May 2013 to April 2015. In this role, they co-designed professional development calendars, sourced researchers and presenters, and managed event logistics.

Overall, Ashley McLellan has extensive experience in providing professional learning opportunities, connecting educational leaders, and supporting school communities in their pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning.

Ashley McLellan holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, which was obtained from 2015 to 2016. Ashley also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Mount Saint Vincent University, completing it between 2007 and 2009. In addition, they obtained a Diplôme D’Etudes Françaises in French Language and Literature, Art History from the University of Strasbourg, with studies carried out from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that, Ashley received a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on English and History from Mount Allison University, completing their studies from 2002 to 2006.
