Senior Associate Scientist at Neomorph

Michelle Cruz has a strong background in scientific research, with expertise in genetics and STEM outreach.

Michelle began their career at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) in 2014, where they conducted a rigorous Meta-Analysis analyzing genetic diversity among coastal taxa populations.

In 2015, Michelle joined California State University San Marcos, where they held multiple roles. As a Research Associate II, they mentored students and facilitated STEM outreach in the community. As a Lab Finance Officer, they managed finances for the laboratory. Michelle also collaborated with team members as a Research Associate I, conducting experiments and documenting reports.

In 2018, Michelle moved to GNF as a Research Scientist II, focusing on scientific research. Michelle later advanced to the role of Senior Scientist, where they continued to contribute their expertise until 2021.

Currently, Michelle is working at Neomorph, Inc. as a Senior Associate Scientist, a position they have held since October 2022.

Michelle Cruz completed their education at California State University San Marcos. Michelle obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biotechnology from the university. Michelle then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Biology, specializing in Immunology from the same institution. In addition to their academic qualifications, Michelle Cruz has obtained several certifications. These include "Working with the IACUC" certification from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program in July 2015, "Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research" certification from CITI Program in May 2015, "Post-Procedure Care of Mice and Rats in Research" certification from CITI Program in September 2016, "CSUSM IRB Training" certification in March 2016, and "KINE/Biomedical - Basic/Refresher" certification from CITI Program in July 2015.
