Tara Schmidlen

Tara Schmidlen has a diverse work experience in the field of genetic counseling. Tara is currently working as the Clinical Content Lead at Nest Genomics (YC W22) since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Invitae as a Clinical Program Manager-Proactive Genetics from February 2021 to September 2022. Tara also has experience as a Clinical Investigator/Senior Genetic Counselor at Geisinger from February 2017 to February 2021. Before that, they worked as a Genetic Counselor at Coriell Institute for Medical Research from June 2008 to June 2018. Tara also worked as a Genetic Counselor at Kimball Genetics, a Division of LabCorp, from July 2007 to May 2008, and as a Genetic Coordinator at Genzyme Genetics from May 2006 to July 2007.

Tara Schmidlen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University from 1998 to 2002. Tara went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from Arcadia University, where they studied from 2004 to 2006. In November 2007, Tara achieved certification as a Genetic Counselor from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Furthermore, in 2020, they completed the Leadership Development Training Program offered by the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
