Michiel Punt

Michiel Punt is an accomplished professional in the field of data science and life sciences, currently serving as the Head of Section Life Sciences at the Netherlands eScience Center since August 2022, where responsibilities include line management and project management. Prior to this role, Michiel was the Lead Data Science at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences from January 2020 to September 2022, focusing on structuring the data science department, and also held the position of Senior Researcher, leading research projects and supervising PhD students. Michiel's experience includes a significant tenure as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from August 2013 to March 2020, where project setup and data science were paramount. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Neuroscience from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Master in Human Movement Sciences from the same institution, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from The Hague University. Michiel has also engaged in teaching roles and early career internship experiences.
